"Unfortunately big parts of..." Sudan Warnings Or Dangers Tip by Narviking

Sudan Warnings and Dangers: 51 reviews and 35 photos

Unfortunately big parts of Sudan is dangerous to travel in. These days I would not travel many kilometers south of Khartoum before I would say stop and return north..... There is a civil war going on in the south. North western parts may be safe but there is some banditry going on. I went from Khartoum to Port Sudan on the road via Kassala. In 1998 rebelgroups warn against going on this road and in november 2000 Kassala itself was for some days occupied by rebels. This means that the best way to get to Port Sudan from Khartoum is by train or plane.
For those wanting to visit Sudan I would say the safe areas start a couple of hundred kilometers south of Khartoum and goes north to the Egyptian border.
