See 'MUST SEE ACTIVITIES' -- Kolekole Pass in particular!!! If you'd like to see what HIKING in Hawaii is like, visit Grant Tukomi's excellent Hawaii Hiking Gallery website at http://rcarchive.com/hhg/ Each pic on the main page will open an entire page of related pics on the next page. SNORKELING is an absolute must.....Hanauma Bay is the great place to snorkel on Ohau.....the Kona Coast is great snorkeling on The Big Island. ON MAUI: Haleakala's Valley of the Sun is quite spectacular, the Iao Needle is a very beautiful natural formation in a park setting and you may even see whale tails as the whales swim offshore in LaHaina. VIRTUAL HAWAII FIELD TRIP WEBSITE: This is a MUST SEE website for anyone who really wants to get serious about checking out the islands....especially if you need to decide which islands to visit....the site contains high resolution aerial and ground tour pics as well as satellite images....NASA helped produce the images.....be sure to do the complete Oahu and Kauai tours!!! The site can be found at http://satftp.soest.hawaii.edu/space/hawaii/virtual.field.trips.html If you're really into the VOLCANOES, a great site to check out is www.lavart.com ....G. Brad Lewis is a world-famous volcanic activity photographer and his work is amazing.... a great selection of his work is at http://www.lavart.com/catalog/1999_catalog.html# ......the active volcanoes are on The Big Island - Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, etc. It takes quite a while to drive to the park if you're staying in Kona (the main resort area on The Big Island) but it's a very unique experience - almost eerie. You'll definitely see HUGE, deep, black pits with cracks and steam vents....and, depending on your location and the amount of activity at Kilauea, you may see molten lava. Depending on where you get out and walk around, your feet and the soles of your shoes will actually get hot!!! One of the few pics on G. Brad Lewis' www.lavart.com site that's not of The Big Island is the Kalalau print (at http://www.lavart.com/catalog.html ...midpage) -- if you want to see this spectacular spot in person, it's at the very TOP lookout on the island of Kauai's 'Grand Canyon [of the Pacific]'....the first lookout is pretty incredible also but this top lookout is awesome - you can see clear over to the other side of the island and it's fabulous scenery.
