"The World's Biggest Toy Shop" Hamley´s Tip by antistar
Hamley´s, London: 24 reviews and 32 photos
If you have kids you have to visit Hamleys. That's not just an encouragement, you may literally have no choice. As the world's biggest toy store it's a magnet for children. It's also a potentially harrowing and costly experience for parents, but that comes with the territory, right? When I took my two year old son there, as a reward for being so good in the Tate Modern, it all went badly wrong. He didn't understand that there was more to the shop than the first toy he saw, and did not want to leave. Even when he was given the toy he wanted, a meltdown ensued when we went to pay for it. So he ended up with nothing but a screaming pram ride to the exit.
Hamleys (no there isn't an apostrophe) has seven floors of toys and over five thousand meters of floor space. Every corner, every aisle and every shelf is crammed with toys of all kinds. It's a veritable Santa's Grotto.
