Venezuela Warnings and Dangers: 51 reviews and 18 photos

Don't buy any wildlife or wildlife products while traveling in Venezuela, or elsewhere in the world. I was in Venezuela working to combat the illegal trade in wildlife, especially the sale of birds, primates and big cats as pets. Near San Carlos, is the Association for the Rescue of Fauna (ARFA), one of few officially sanctioned wildlife rescue centers in Venezuela. It will break your heart to see parrots, monkeys and many other types of birds, mammals, and reptiles in the cages. Most cannot be returned to the wild due to injuries or behavior problems. DON'T BE PART OF THE PROBLEM. DON'T BUY EXOTIC PETS THERE OR AT HOME. EVERY WILD ANIMAL BOUGHT FOR A PET, ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, CONTRIBUTES TO A SERIOUS THREAT TO SPECIES AND ECOSYSTEMS. GET A DOG OR A CAT!!!!
