"Xlendi Bay" Xlendi Tip by mickeyboy07

Xlendi, Gozo: 20 reviews and 46 photos

This area is also a village as well as a bay situated on the south-west coast of Gozo. The name is probably derived from 'xelandion',a type of 'Byzantine' vessel which may have anchored here.the area has its own 5 person mini council something that is unique in these islands.
The area has great topography with quite steep cliffs on the side and a valley on the back that's takes rain water from the nearby villages and empties into the bay.In British rule the area was a bay holding a sandy bay but by time wave, the valley water and human interference now holds a few pebbles. Its still known for the rocks on the left side of the bay which are good for diving and sunbathing. There are many caves both large and small on the sides of the bay some big enough to sail into.
