"Siem Reap presents a great..." Cambodia Off The Beaten Path Tip by Hawaii-5-0

Cambodia Off The Beaten Path: 136 reviews and 195 photos

Siem Reap presents a great opportunity to get out to see the Cambodian countryside. It is centrally located within short driving distance to many points of interest in the area.
(Entrance to the Angkor ruins are located 5 km north of town, the Roluos group of temples are located 12km from town, 15km to Lake Tonle Sap and 15 km north to Banteay Srei.) Taking a local guide along is highly recommended. Moto drivers can often double as guides, and they are very affordable.
Most of the hotels and guesthouses can arrange car or taxi hire to visit Angkor and the surrounding countryside.
Minibuses are available from Angkor Tourism or from Cambodian Travel and Tours. A 12 seat minibus costs about US$40 per day.
