"MUSEI VATICANI, VATICAN CITY..." Italy Things to Do Tip by JessicaS

Italy Things to Do: 1,468 reviews and 2,255 photos

The Vatican Museum is spectacular, housing some priceless and ancient works of sculpture and other art (including a few sculptures that were already considered ancient during Roman times - puts things into perspective). The museum is also the only way you can see the Sistine Chapel - it's at the end of the museum. If you have the time, don't rush through the museum, though, just to get to the end - the museum has some really lovely things in it (not the least of which are the Raphael rooms, just before the Sistine Chapel). There is often a line for the museum during high season, so be prepared to wait in line. There's also no AC throughout most of the museum - only the brand new entryway is air-conditioned. (This picture is of one of the many interior courtyards, but the only one open to the public.)

Directions: The museum entrance is located along one side of the Vatican city wall - there are signs directing you toward it all along the wall itself, so it's pretty hard to miss.
othercontact: No photography is allowed in mos
