"Packing List" Italy Packing List Tip by JessicaS

Italy What to Pack: 90 reviews and 67 photos

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: If you plan to visit any churches in Italy (and why wouldn't you?!?), you must bring appropriate clothing! Many churches are relaxed about their posted requirements, but others adhere strictly to what the signs say - and you'd be missing out on some gorgeous places if you weren't properly dressed. So, remember to bring long pants or a long skirt (no exposed knees allowed) and either shirts with sleeves or a scarf to cover bare shoulders (as they aren't allowed, either). Then you can watch all the people who are improperly dressed trying to talk their way past the guards... Unsuccessfully!

Photo Equipment: In many museums and churches, photos and videos of any kind are prohibited. If this is the case, please respect the rule! (Travel pet peeve of mine: people disobeying those rules in houses of worship! I'm not religious, but I don't think I have the right to trounce on the wishes of those who are.) In other places, photos are allowed if there is NO FLASH - so learn how to make the flash on your camera turn off, and you just might be able to snap away.
