"go to the 'Knock' with Europes..." Emden Favorite Tip by HanspeterJ

Favorite thing: go to the 'Knock' with Europes biggest 'Siel-Schöpfwerk'. The inland-water is pumped out regularly as the area behind the dikes(levees)is about one meter below sea-level. In Emden visit the town-hall with its world-famous 'Rüstkammer' (armament chamber), the second largest in Europe, take a harbour-boat trip, visit the 'Bunker-Museum' and the da-Lasco-Library. And if you like paintings you must visit the 'Henry-Nannen-Kunsthalle'. Henry Nannen was born in Emden, became editor of the magazine 'Der Stern' and sponsor and founder of the gallery. If you like dining, then you must go to the 'Goldener Adler' at the 'Ratsdelft'.
And when you want to explore the countyside then there are two Musts: a visit of the villages of Rysum (about 10 kilometres from Emden) and Greetsiel (about 30 kilometres north of Emden). Greetsiel is said to be the most beautiful fishing port at the coast.

Fondest memory: I like the sky, the wind, the clouds, the scent and most of all the landscape. As somebody born near Frankfurt am Main I don't regret that we have moved here one year ago. I can't stand the 'smell of cities' and of people who seem always to be in a hurry.
