"Uxmal" Mexico Favorite Tip by tomeek

Favorite thing: Once you got yourself there, and you'll probably fly to Mexico city, you're in the middle of the country. From there you can go South if you wanna see Acapulco or North-Eeast towards Mexico Gulf and further to Yucatan peninsula and carribbean coast. This decision depends on whether you want to see famous mayan pyramides or you just care for leisure life in Acapulco. The goal of my trip was to see as much as the pyramides but also to discover the Yucatan not only because of the pyramides but the endless beaches accros the eastern shore of the peninsula. Mexicans are pretty organized and you'll find buses or trains available for all famous places but my choice was renting a small car (very good and affordable) with which I had unlimited freedom of moving arround.

Fondest memory: Climbing up and down the pyramides such as Uxmal or Chitzen Itza is surely a lifetime experience but the warmth and the color of carribbean sea is also something to keep in your memory!

The pyramide on this pic is Uxmal, one of the bigest, highest and most well preserved. You gotta be very careful climibing upstairs and particulary downstairs! Your way down could last up to 20 minutes (my experience) but luckily you have a rope to hold while you make your way up or down. The view from the top is fascinating!! (i'm sorry for this yellow line, its not an Independence day shooting sceene, its my lousy camera!)
