  German Settler's House

This small house is one of the few vestiges still remaining from the old colonial days. The house was built by a German family (Kaiser) in 1847, and is still decorated with much of the materials of the day, concentrating on the German immigrants. The house small and only requires about ~20 minutes to visit, but in all the places I visited in Petropolis, I appreciated this the most. It is small, intimate, the staff friendly and you will likely be the only ones there.

They staff gives a small tour (~10 minutes), but they only spoke Portuguese. If you do not understand Portuguese, they only have a couple information stories posted in English.

The entry is free for all visitors, they just ask that you sign the register.
The web link (below) gives slightly different hours than posted at the museum, but that may be winter/summer differences.
Open 8:30am ~ 4pm. Closed Mondays.

Address: Rua Cristovao Colombo 1034, Castelaneo
Directions: If driving in from Rio, after the entry gate to Petropolis city, watch for signs to the right. It is not within walking distance from center. Private car, taxi or bus would be required.
