"Galleria degli Uffizi" Uffizi Gallery - Galleria Degli Uffizi Tip by TRimer

by TRimer

Be sure to allot enough time to visit the Uffizi gallery. There is alot to see and the place is very crowded. We went right before closing to beat the crowds.

The main picture rooms of the Uffizi open off a green corridor that runs all the way round the uppermost level of the U-shaped building. The museum is crammed with paintings hung chronologically, with each block of rooms forming a neat, self-contained unit. So many masterpieces are collected here that you should put aside three or four hours as the minimum to be able to take in the gallery's key works.

If time or energy is short, it makes sense to limit yourself to an hour or two exploring the first fifteen rooms, where the Florentine Renaissance works are concentrated, leaving the rest for another visit.

Address: City Center
Directions: Ranged around a grand U-shaped courtyard between Piazza della Signoria and the river.
