"Its a 3 hours bus drive from..." Thailand Transportation Tip by tomeek

Its a 3 hours bus drive from Bangkok and about 1 hour boat drive from pier. This is the closest tourist resort from Bangkok, easy and fast to reach. Buses from Bangkok are air conditioned, very comfortable and you get complimentary cold juice and fresh snack on board! Its a nice through-the-country drive and you have a chance to see real Thailand, not just streets of Bangkok! Once you come on island, you'll be 'dispatched' by locals on the back on their trucks, to your favorite beach! Its better than it sounds, tourists really like that back of the truck driving, roads are little bumpy though but its fun! :-)
Gettin arround the mainland pier is an experience coz you pass the shopping area, bare in mind you'll need some supplies on the island. Not that you can't find that on the island but as I was told, its much cheaper to buy things like drinking water and snacks on the pier than on the island. The choice is wider too, there are money exchange office, tourist information etc.. everything on one place.
