"Buddhas statue at Lantau island" Lantau Island Tip by tomeek

Lantau Island, Hong Kong: 231 reviews and 596 photos

Contrary to what you might hope or expect, there is no escalator to reach the top, like there was in Ocean Park! This is a very traditional holy place and to reach it, please excercise your feet and start climbing those stairs! :-) Its not that bad, you can make it!
Unfortunately I can't say this pic was taken by me, its not! :-) This is an aerial view of this entire complex and since its huge, only from such distance you can see it fully. To reach this place you gotta take a chance in the local bus ride which will surely be an experience to remember! Drivers are competing who will break the sound barrier first, regardless of driving up or down the hill! :-) Strongly suggest you don't take this ride immediately after you had lunch!!

Directions: Lantau island, place called On Ping but most commonly known as Po Lin Monastery with big Buddha monument on the top.
