"English garden" Schloß Pillnitz Things to Do Tip by german_eagle

Schloß Pillnitz Things to Do: 18 reviews and 67 photos

From 1778 on the northwestern grounds were re-designed as an English style garden. The English pavillion was built, the pond constructed, an older building was reconstructed and used as orangery and so on. This part of the park has an ambience closer to natural landscape, you almost don't feel like it is designed. I like that a lot. Strolling on the paths under the huge trees that provide shade in summer is very pleasant. Watching the ducks is also fun!

In winter/early spring you can peek into the orangery and see the tropical plants, admire the blooming camellia. Don't miss to notice the different trees all over the English garden: It is an arboretum, many trees are from other continents.
