  Church of the Dominican Monastery
by HORSCHECK

The Church of the Dominican Monastery (Biserica Manastirii Dominicane) was a part of an early 14th century Dominican Monastery complex. Nowadays only the church still exists as in 1888 all other buildings of the monastery had to make place for the current town hall.

Since 1556 the church functions as one of the town's main Lutheran churches. Similar to the Black Church in Brasov, also the interior of the Church of the Dominican Monastery is decorated with oriental carpets which were brought to the town by local merchants.

Entrance fee to the church is 2,00 RON. It includes access to an interesting small church museum, which has many exhibits from the town's Transsylvanian Saxon history on display.

Directions:
The Church of the Dominican Monastery is located inside the historic old town. It stands in close neighbourhood to the Clock Tower.
