"Central Park: Engineer's Gate & Purroy Memorial" New York City Things to Do Tip by atufft
New York City Things to Do: 5,349 reviews and 8,633 photos
At 90th and Park Avenue is a major entrance to the park along the Upper East Side, a place often filled with joggers and cyclists trying to enter the park. Here there is a memorial to Mayor John Purroy, a pre-WWI anti-corruption and one term mayor, who also died during a training exercise in the army. The memorial is part of a terrace and stairway to the reservoir, around which is a jogging trail. Great sunset shots can be found here.
