"A stay in historical ambiente" Pousada de Alcacer do Sal Dom Afonso II Tip by gubbi1

Pousadas are portuguese hotels in historical buildings set up to keep the charm of the past with modern amenities. With the high standard they are not very cheap, but at least one night should be spent in one during your trip. During my trip I was thinking where to spent my time in a Pousada and decided that in Alcaer do Sal would be the right time. The Pousada is located in a castle located high up over the town on a hill that has traces of a 5000 years of history. Inside the hotel there is much space to find a quiet corner. The food in the restaurant is delicious.

Unique Qualities: Much of the interior reminds of the old castle, the thick walls and wide corridors. Below the Pousada there is a nice museum (different entrance) showing the archeological findings in and around the building.
The hill on which the Pousada is located offers very nice views over the town, the river Sado and the rice fields.
