The Thy Camp is a social experiment started in with a foundation in Copenhagen in 1968 of Det nye samfund (the new society) that organised a Woodstock like summer festival in northern Jutland. The foundation acquired the 47 acre ground in 1970. In the following years a very open society started with a focus on primitive living close to nature. This developed too few people staying all year in year 1974 and from then the population has developed to the present number around 70 people. Including one of my friends.

There is still a summer festival you can find info on their homepage and the dates bring your own tent. You pay an entrance fee to the festival.

You can visit the camp and stay here for longer period if you can uphold 3 basic rules; No violence, no hard drugs and you contribute with 10 DDK (almost 2$ a day) to be paid in the little shop ¨bixen¨.

The organization of the society is a general meeting august 21th each year, no chairman or board. The rules and decisions are mainly done on a consensus basis.
