My parents-in-law discovered this gorgeous little eatery on one of their many visits to Findhorn Bay. The Bakehouse is a small cafe with about 10 tables inside and a few more seats outside, serving high quality, local food that is ethically sourced and lovingly prepared. Staff were all very warm, welcoming and friendly.

We came here on a crisp blustery October morning to warm ourselves with a hot drink, before walking along Findhorn Bay and the Moray Coast. At 11am it was quite busy and we went up to the counter to place our order. I had a very good scone and a deliciously creamy cappuccino. John had a fruit tart slice and an equally tasty cafe latte. I can't remember exact prices, but they were definitely reasonable.

Favorite Dish: The Bakehouse also sells fantastic freshly baked breads (obviously, given the name...) and offer a choice of organic, gluten-free, wholegrain and various artisan types as well. I personally haven't tried any of their savoury dishes, but my parents-in-law have eaten here twice before and highly recommend it.

Thanks to the nearby Findhorn Foundation and eco-village, the area around Findhorn and Forres is full of such wonderful bistros and restaurants, serving mostly organic and local "slow food".

When I next come to Findhorn, I'll be back at the Bakehouse for sure... their baked goods look and smell amazing! There are many more things from their menu that I'm looking forward to tasting...

Opening Hours:
7 Days a week, 10:00am - 04:00pm (slightly later in the summer months).

Dogs are welcome.
