Plant City, a rather large town of 25,000 located between Tampa and Lakeland, is famous for its strawberries. It was named for named after prominent railroad developer, Henry B. Plant, whose name also adorns Plant High School in South Tampa, as well as the Plant Museum at University of Tampa.

Plant City is known as the winter strawberry capital of the world, and it hosts the annual Florida Strawberry Festival in February or early March. Wishnatzki Farms, the largest producer and shipper of strawberries in Florida, has its headquarters in Plant City.
