Close to the tourist-run-amuck Hollywood and Highland area with the Walk of Fame is a little natural paradise to go for a more local neighborhood experience. Come with a lot of energy and stamina to the 160 acre Runyon Canyon. Most park visitors are light hikers but many do dare to jog and run the steep paths, as well as do yoga exercises.

Humans and doggies enjoy this wonderful nature escape that offers some the best, most exquisite landscape views of greater Los Angeles. Although there is a good amount of discipline involved with dog owners picking up dog poo, several pooch deposits are left on the grounds. Careful where you step!

You may encounter an active-loving celebrity here, as well as a snake (well, in some cases both are one in the same :-). The amphibious creatures can be avoided if you don't wander a bit from the main path into the deep brush spots.

Of course, it is highly recommendable to bring your own water. You WILL need to if you are pursuing the whole 3 trail park. A healthy snacks of fruits and nuts would be great also to enjoy for a break. Refreshments are even for inexpensive purchase by the main (Fuller Ave entrance).

Parking can be a pain here but bring patience and prepare to walk from Hollywood Blvd, or catch an MTA bus that runs off nearby major blvds, Hollywood And La Brea.

Equipment: a good pair of sneakers, canteen filled with water, comfortable top and bottom, light active pants (esp in penetrating the deep brush areas be cause of potential encounter of bugs or even snakes) , a flashlight if here in the evening
