Cafe de la Gare: "As local as you can get." Profondeville Restaurant Tip by ATLC
Profondeville Restaurants: 1 reviews and 5 photos
This is a real night restaurant. Open only from 18 hrs (except Mondays) until the wee hours of night. People come in to dine as late as after midnight. It's really famous in the area. Not only the locals come, tourists too but as a great compliment also the local restaurant owners and staff who come here after their own closing hours. There are all ages, and good looking women too :-)
It's small, loud, busy and there all ca. 40 covers are taken several times during the evening. I dined here twice on consequetive nights (Tuesday, Wednesday). The restaurant was full and refilling itself constantly.
We didn't make reservations (may be wise though!), but did not have to wait.
Favorite Dish: Yum yum... eh... fresh steak tartare (16 euro), shrimp fritters (11 euro), cassoulet of white giant beans with local sausages and potted duck leg (confit de canard) in a lovely stock sauce (19 euro). A meltingly soft ham with mustard sauce. Fried duck liver on caramelised apples and toasted raisin bread (14 euro as a starter).
No room for dessert. In fact, I didn't see anyone eating a dessert. There is just too much to eat in the 1st two courses!
Address: Rue Colonel Bourg 15, 5170 PROFONDEVILLE
Comparison: about average
Directions: With your face to the local church, walk down its left side towards the river. That is the Rue Colonel Bourg. About halfway on your left.
