Unpretentious south Indian cooking at great value prices. Frankfurt's Indian scene has really improved over the years. Once you could only get overpriced, under spiced curries. Now you have a whole spectrum from hole-in-the-wall eateries to top quality dining. Ruchi fills a middle ground between the two, offering an expansive menu at reasonable prices, especially the six euro lunchtime buffet.

We go there for the Dosa, a south Indian specialty that is basically a savoury lentil crepe with a spicy filling. The Madrasa is the most typical, with a potato and onion filling. They are cheap, and you don't really need anything with them - they come with dipping sauces. You can mix in rice if you want, but they are also fine on their own as a starter. Others recommend the Hyderabadi biryanis, but I haven't tried that yet.

Despite being a South Indian restaurant, they also have north Indian chefs now cooking other specialities.

Favorite Dish: The dosas.
