The vaporetto is the way to get to Murano from Venice. It takes just 10 minutes to get from Fte. Nové to Murano Colonna, stopping just at the Cimitero stop on the cemetary island of San Michele. Services 4.1 and 4.2 make this journey and then go around the island stopping at other points. The other useful stop for tourists is likely to be Murano Museo which is the most convenient for the Glass Museum and Basilica dei SS Maria e Donato.

The Murano Museo stop is also served by vaporetto line 3 which is an express service which goes between Murano Museo and Ferrovia (for Santa Lucia train station in Venice) and P.le Roma (for the bus station in Venice) not stopping at any other stops.

These services are run by ACTV which is the operator of the public transport around the venice area and their tickets are valid on all these routes.

Alilaguna (a private company) also operates waterbuses to Murano from the Airport (Marco Polo), Lido and San Marco. These services require a different ticket which can be purchased on the boat or in advance from Alilaguna offices (at San Marco or the airport arrivals hall).
