The Blue Grotto is located near Zurrieq and is one of Zurrieq's highlights. The grotto actually consists of several sea caverns. Each day from sunrise to about 13:00 hours you can admire water reflections in various shades of blue. Several caverns reflect the fantastic fluorescent colors of the underwater flora, whereas other caverns just show magnificent shades of deep blue. Together with the gorgeous scenery surrounding the grotto this is a totally spectacular sight and yet another of the numerous breathtaking places in Malta. I was fascinated by all those wonderful shades of blue, especially since blue is my favorite color.

The sea can be quite rough in that area, but the Maltese ferrymen are pretty experienced at not capsizing their boats, so it's highly unlikely that you'll take a sudden and surprising dive.
