In the 1980's Dean Unger, a Sacramento architect and Ron Broward on a trip to Europe decided to open up a European style brewery in California. They chose a site in Davis and in 1989 they established Sudwerk.

Sudwerk became an instant hit and they continue to brew their own hand crafted beers in a very cool facility in Davis, California. The brewery also contains a very fine restaurant but most folks come during the evening to Sudwerk's to enjoy one of their great beers. These include their own version of Marzen, Pilsner, Pale Ale, Maibock, Dopplebock and a host of others. The center piece of the brewery is a series of very cool copper kettles. The beers are excellent and the food is o.k.

Hours are Sunday to Tuesday 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Tuesday to Thursday 11:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Friday and Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Dress Code: Sudwerk's is a casual place both for drinking beer and having lunch or dinner.
