"Painted Cave Road~Narrow, Steep, Cliffs!!" Top 5 Page for this destination Santa Barbara Warnings Or Dangers Tip by Yaqui

Santa Barbara Warnings and Dangers: 12 reviews and 9 photos

There is No guard rail on this road, and its steep, narrow and lots of boulder overhangs. When they say RV & Trailers NOT recommened, they mean it! The road is very curvey and the turns are hairpin turn, so a trailer or RV is not going to make it. Plus, SUV's are not ideal due to the fact there is no parking other than a couple of standard size cars. If you bring them you will be blocking the road and thus creating another hazard. Drive slow because Cyclist love this road too, so share the road!!

The site is three miles south of San Marcos Pass. Take Highway 154 from Santa Barbara and turn right on Painted Cave Road. The cave is located on the left about two miles up a steep, narrow road. Parking is limited to two or three cars
