Boat Café Dravska Vila: "To drink or to eat?" Maribor Restaurant Tip by christine.j

We had hoped to do a boat trip on the Drava in the tourist boat Dravska Vila.
When we asked in the tourist information if the November schedule was valid, we were told to go to the boat and ask. If there were no tours, we could still have a coffee there.
That's what we did. At least eight tourists are needed to get a tour going and in early November, even if it was warm, not enough tourists showed up.
But there is a very nice café inside the boat and we had coffee and the special Slovenian hot chocolate. I pity any Slovenians who order a hot chocolate in Germany, they probably wonder what this thin liquid is they get.
Hot chocolate Slovenian style is so thick, it' s almost like chocolate pudding. We also had the white hot chocolate, it was more like hot custard and you need a spoon to eat it.It really cannot be compared to the watery, thin hot chocolate you get in most German cafés.
We had hot chocolate in some other cafés as well, and it was the same, so this is not a specialty of the boat café but of Maribor.
The boat trip was supposed to start at 11 am on weekends and shortly before 11 the waitress walked from table to table, asking people if they were there for the boat trip or for the coffee. Most were there for the coffee and the hot chocolate, so no boat tour.
