We arrived in Domme and walked to the restaurant a friend had recommended and it was closed. I took a photo and we walked on.

At the corner we saw a sign to Pot de Fer Domme! We quickly found it and the special for the day was three favorites so we entered. It had turned into a beautiful day so we sat outside under a big umbrella and beside a long fountain with gold fish. Madame assured us the fish were not lunch!

The owners were wait staff and chef and were wonderful. As the afternoon wore on, the chef came out and walked round the tables talking to all of us.

If you travel out of season, the restaurant is closed from Oct. 1 to April 30. Otherwise, I highly recommend it.

UPDATE: A friend visited Domme recently and said this restaurant was closed. A shame because it was good and very friendly with reasonable prices. There are several very nice restaurants in Domme so you won't go hungry. We haven't eaten at Cabanoix et Châtaigne but another friend has and it's her favorite restaurant in Domme. You'll find it at 3 rue Geoffroy de Vivans and the phone is +33 (0)5 53 31 07 11 if you want to try them. That's what we were looking for the day we found Pot de Fer, but it was closed. Sometimes traveling out of season means missing a few things . . .

Favorite Dish: Here's my Journal entry for the meal:

We ordered the 17.90 euro daily special with a crudité starter; main course of roast leg of duck, cooked julienne vegetables, baby potatoes and a marvelous couscous vinaigrette with late summer vegetables followed by a very rich cassis sorbet with currents in it.

Add some espresso and it was a wonderful meal. We got a Domme wine that was okay but not memorable. The chef came out and stopped at each table. It was great fun and very good food.

(They have a weekday noon special for 9.90 euros that is a real bargain.)

Yes, but I have the impression that Cabanoix et Châtaigne is better so try that. We certainly will next time.
