one of the more upscale hotels of the Kenyan coast, the main building and the rooms influenced by swahili architecture though I would not really support the claim they built a "Swahili village" (but that´s probably because I know too many real African villages). A pleasant place, though I found it amazing for such a posh chain that they have only one pool (and thus no silent area like some other hotels along the coast). Consequently, the pool was more crowded too. Another thing striking me was the considerably lower number of local tourists so it had a bit of a tourist ghetto feeling about it. I really enjoyed sundowners on the roof terrace (this is where the Swahili them hit the right spot for sure!) and the coffee being prepared all day in the main area.

Unique Qualities: The hotel runs its own turtle conservation project, and if you are lucky, during your stay a nest hatches and you can watch the baby turtles being set free and running for the sea. They also organise lectures on turtles ince a week to raise awareness for conservation

Price Comparison: more expensive than average
Price: US$120-180
Theme: Hotel
