"SINAN TÜRBE/TOMB" Suleymaniye Camii - Mosque Tip by mtncorg
Suleymaniye Camii - Mosque, Istanbul: 3 reviews and 8 photos
Mimar Sinan was truly a high point in Ottoman cultural evolution. Living a biblical 98 years of age, he was responsible for the construction of more than 300 major projects throughout the Turkish empire from the Imperial mosques in Istanbul ? Süleymaniye and Şehzade ? to his gem, the Selimiye Mosque in Edirne to the Mehmet Pasha Sokoloviċ in Vi?egrad, Bosnia made famous by Ivo Andriċ?s ?Bridge over the River Drina?. The man who built temples, tombs, aqueducts, schools and havens for travelers is laid to rest in this small tomb defaced by the graffiti of moderns not in his league.
