"FIRST BOSPHORUS BRIDGE" Bridges Tip by mtncorg
Bridges, Istanbul: 4 reviews and 9 photos
Boðaziçi Köprüsü was the first of the two bridges that span the Bosphorus. Finished in 1975, it is presently the 17th longest suspension span in the world – 4th longest when it was built. There are eight lanes which vary in direction of traffic flow with time of day. There is a toll plaza on the Asian side. At night, a computerized light show keeps the bridge interesting. Pedestrians used to be able to walk over the bridge, but today you can only cross the bridge on foot by signing up for the Intercontinental Istanbul Eurasia Marathon run annually held in October.
