"Do not visit before May!" Vardzia Tourist Trap Tip by JLBG

Vardzia Tourist Traps: 1 reviews and 0 photos

I was in Georgia at the end of April 2011 and planned to visite Vardzia. The monastery complex stands between 1500 and 1700 meters of elevation in southern Georgia. We went to several other places in the country and found that everywhere, there was a lot of snow remaining at 1200 meters. I got several advices that said that it might be possible to reach Vardzia but that it would be difficult to visit efficiently. May be that 2011 had an abnormally late snow fall but be warned that if you visit in spring, the later the best.
