The Crossings Caravan Site: "Great, Off the Beaten Track Area." Bewcastle Hotel Tip by nickandchris

We booked this site as it was about equal distance for us and Nick's sister and husband to travel. We had arranged a few days away to meet up with them, us in our motorhome, them in their caravan.
As it was late October and it had rained almost solidly for the last few days, we needed hardstandings so as not to get bogged in. We also decided electricity would be a bonus so we could have plenty of heating fot the cold nights.
This site fitted the bill and it was an area none of us were overly familiar with, giving us plenty of scope for exploring.
The site is .75 of an acre, level and large enough hardstandings to manouvre on. Electric hook-ups were also included in the £9.50 a unit per night.
Opposite is a pub which proved to be a popular venue on the Friday of our stay, there being a halloween party. The downside was I was kept awake by the revelry that went on until 2pm. The pub also serves food but we were adequately stocked with provisions so didn't give it a try.
From the site are open views over fields to the fells and although a B road runs past the site and the proximity of the pub, you are actually in the middle of nowhere and it is rather a tranquil setting.
Unique Qualities: Not outstanding but beware, even though the pitches are all on hard, water lies on and under the surface creating a rather squelchy ground. it had been raining a lot, though!
