This very old beautiful Norman Church I found in the Village of East Meon. It was surrounded by mown grass and many old headstone's, plus it had one of those "olde world" English entry gates, I thought it was beautiful!
The village church was built after the Norman Conquest, between 1075 and 1150. It is built to resemble a Cathedral, particularly Winchester Cathedral.

Inside is a black marble baptismal font, built in Belgium in the early 1100's, and a stone, which has the words "Amens Plenty" carved into it, said to sit atop the graves of four men buried in the standing position.
It was a pity it wasn't open!

This website gives all the details on this very old Church.............

Address: In the small village of East Meon
