Telc Off The Beaten Path: 5 reviews and 11 photos
Just 9kms from Telc, we came across the Rostjen Castle. We could see it sitting high on the hill, amongst the Forest. We found some signs to it, and just followed the road to the end!
This is another Gothic Castle, later rebuilt into a Renaissance hunters' residence with a game park surrounding the Castle. The game park no longer exits, being closed in 1902.
This Castle was destroyed by fire in 1915, and left in ruins until 1958, when restoration began. There is a 28metre high tower for fit people to climb and enjoy the views!
It now is a museum containing history of the Castle and surrounding countryside, plus a botanical garden. It had some very important owner's that we had come across on our travels of the Czech Repbulic. They were the Lords of Hradec and the powerfull Lichtenstein's.
This Castle would be one that didn't impress me much!
If you like your food, then you may want to come to the historical feast, annually held in the castle courtyard as well as traditional Jazz Festival.
