Bangui Things to Do: 9 reviews and 35 photos
On the shore of Bangui Bay, you’ll find the biggest wind turbines in Southeast Asia. The windmills are beautifully arranged in a single row, forming an arc along the shoreline. They stand 326 meters apart from each other, each with a towering height equivalent to a 23-story building.
Initially, there were only 15 wind turbines, each capable of producing electricity up to a maximum capacity of 1.65MW, for a total of 24.75MW. Then, 5 more wind turbines with the same capacity were added, bringing the total capacity to 33MW. They now supply energy to the Bangui community and nearby towns.
Depending on your schedule, you can make a stopover at Bangui before you go to Pagudpud, or go there after you’ve settled down in your hotel/resort. You can actually see the windmills from the highway, but you can stop by the Bangui View Deck. From there, you’ll see all the 20 towering white windmills with the wonderful mountain range and the azure sea as background, and the lush greenery of rice fields and trees as foreground. If you have the luxury of time, you can go to the site and see the giant windmills up close. You just have to go further down from the highway; follow the signs to the road leading to the shoreline of Bangui Bay. Being dwarfed by the giant windmills and hearing the movement of their rotor blades is an awesome experience.
