  Henry VII's Hunting Lodge
by balhannah

What a pretty thatched roofed Cottage this was!

I noticed the name, "Old Place," and I wondered what its history was. Well, Old Place was down the lane, and no entry was permitted! I have seen photo's of Old Place, a timber-framed, late 16th century gabled building.

At the beginning of the lane, is a lovely Cottage with a garden to match, and it's situated next to "Old Place." The Cottage was built in 1390.
It was King Henry VII's Hunting Lodge, and also was used as a "Poor House."
A poorhouse in Victorian times, saw poverty as a dishonourable state caused by a lack of the moral virtue of industriousness.
