Gingerbread Cottages: "Gingerbread Bakehouse." State of Tasmania Hotel Tip by tropicrd

We stayed in the old bakehouse which accomodates up to six people but we were a couple and had lots of room.
It was fully furnished with period pieces and had everything we needed, including a washing machine and dryer.
Our hosts were very generous with the breakfast basket with homemade fresh bread, cake and biscuits.Free range eggs and bacon....
The beds were comfy and everything spotlessly clean.
It was so nice to arrive after a days sightseeing and light the log belly stove and relax in the big arm chairs after a spa bath.
Westbury is a pretty little village which was established in the 1820's as a garrison town.
The five cottages date from 1850 and are heritage listed.
It is close to the White house museum,Westbury maze and Pearn's famous steam world.
I would recommend anyone to stay in these lovely cottages, they are really delightful and away from the main stream of traffic yet so close to everything. You do need to have your own transport to get around though. It is approx 20 minute drive from Launceston along the Bass Highway or 40 minute drive from Devonport ferry terminal (Spirit of Tasmania).
Unique Qualities: The cottages are really lovely and off the main stream of traffic. The peaceful ambience of a heritage village is great.
The homely atmosphere of the well kept cottages and the beautiful furniture period pieces and memorabillia was a delight.
The pot belly stove and the spa were a treat after a day of sightseeing.
The breakfast basket was one of the best we have had with the freshest produce.
If you get a chance have a look at the other cottages...they are really unique.
