This was your local cuisne on steroids....I think that we were the only English speakers among a huge crowd of locals here, but we arrived about 10 minutes before opening time at lunch (about 13:00 if I remember corrrectly) and there was already a line waiting for the restaurant to be opened. We got in line and it was worth the effort to get back here. They even had a menu in English.
They serve up many local dishes that you cannot find most places and if you are into sampling local foods and not what is served up for tourists, then this is one place for you.
Claimed to be the oldest restaurant in Barcelona it has expanded into surrounding rooms and buildings...the restaurant is not just as wide as you see the front as shown in the photo, the rooms continue to both sides, to the back and continue upstairs....
Favorite Dish: Enjoy the local dishes.
An interesting note, in the second photo you can see a personalized cover for the water main. This is located in the street, underfoot. We found this same type of thing in many of the older establishments, restaurants, stores, whatever, but not in the newer places. I wonder if the store or restaurant pays for this themselves? Anybody know?
Address: Barri Gotic district
