Gran Hotel Catalonia Barcelona: "Espanya, not central, yet central" Barcelona Hotel Tip by Martin_S.

Okay, why "not central, but central"...well it is located ON Espanya Square, which is outside the city center, but it is only 5 minutes walk from Montjuic and Font Magica.
AND most importantly two of the major metro lines and the train line to Monserrat are only 5 meters from the front door, making it not central, yet central.
We would hop on the metro and be in Barri Gotic in 5 minutes and we would also return in the afternoon to take a shower and rest if needed before our evening outings. Very convenient.
The breakfast was excellent so you could skip lunch.
Unique Qualities: As you can see the view from our room was not "stunning", but the room was well insulated and we were not disturbed by the noise of this major intersection just below our window.
Also the pool on the rooftop was nice, although we did take a dip, it was slightly too cool for much sun bathing in the evenings.
The hotel is also adjacent to the Torreos Shopping Center and the Joan Miro Park.
Address: Plaza Espanya, Barcelona, Spain
Price Comparison: about average
