"Malta's Bus system" Malta Transportation Tip by Flying.Scotsman
Malta Transportation: 228 reviews and 239 photos
One of the big issues in Malta seems to be the bus system! In the summer of 2011 the bus system changed from old buses run by owner-operators to a modern service run by Arriva. The old system had old (in some cases ancient) buses. These buses were often decorated internally in a religious and/or popular theme such as Elvis or Manchester United. They generally ran on time, on routes that made sense for locals and tourists. The new system has modern, characterless buses that seem to be perpetually late, on routes that didn't go where people wanted them to. They have returned mainly to the old routes and seem to be efficient once again. A one week ticket costs €6.40 so is well worth it unless you are not intending use the bus more than a very few times.
