"The Lesser Square." Olomouc Things to Do Tip by Askla

Olomouc Things to Do: 174 reviews and 426 photos

In the middle of the Lesser Square (Dolni Namesti) towers the Marian Column. It was built after the plague in 1713-15. There are statues of patron saints against the plague on the upper level of the pedestal - these are the saints Pauline, Barbara, Catherine and Rosalia of Lima. The lesser level has statues of the saints Roch, Francis Xavier, Charles Borromeo and Sebastian.

On the western side of the square sits the beautiful Hauenschild's Palace (the white house to the left in pic # 2). It was built in around 1583 for the merchant family Hauenschild.
The house is not open to the public.
