When out visiting this wonderful National Park, either bushwalking for the day, or distance hiking make sure that you are very careful and not to get lost. always stay on the trails..This is a huge area that takes in other National Parks on its borders ie: Nattai N.P. , The Blue MountainsN.P. and also The Wollemi National Park, thus creating an immense area of parkland of thousands of square miles. There is an abundance of local wildlife to be seen and watched along with a poliferation of birdlife, there are many wonderfully colourful parrots, cockatoos and various other birdlife to be seen as well as the bushland delivers a plethora of wildflowers of all types and colours.

The weather also here can be very unreliable and unforgiving and at any moment there can be violent thunderstorms also at high altitude snowfalls that mean you must have the appropriate clothing for the conditions.
Ranger stations can give you all the neccesary information that you will need .Also maps and information can be obtained from the N.S.W.P.W.S. (The New South Wales Parks and Wildlife Service) to hike in these isolated wilderness areas. These activities although most enjoyable also carry a certain amount of dangers and long hikes should only be attempted by very experienced and equipped bushwalkers.
Never be without sufficient fresh water.
Always have warm clothing.
Always tell friends or realtives where you are going and for how long.
Always carry a torch and matches.
Carry a mobile phone
ALWAYS extiguish camp fires..and cigarettes.. fires are your worst fear hiking.
