The facility has several buildings on the grounds and my room was located in the building down the street about a quarter mile; this is where the pet friendly rooms are (1730 Harbor Crest Inn). This building is ?bed and breakfast? style and set back off the street on a small hill. All the common rooms on the first floor are absolutely beautiful; wonderfully decorated, warm and inviting, a large fireplace in the main salon, and a three season porch wrapping around the side and front of the house. This building only houses 6 rooms for sleeping; two on the third floor, three on the second floor and one on the first floor. The room in which I stayed was located on the third floor and luckily was slightly larger than those of the second floor (keep in mind those rooms are much larger than a typical hotel room to begin with). The third floor room runs from the front to the back of the house (and the other room is across the hall so no walls connect), a small fire place, and a very roomy Jacuzzi/tub in the bathroom. The bedroom and bathroom were both surprising immaculate for a pet friendly B&B. The bed itself is a huge king size sleigh bed with more than enough room to navigate around it and accommodates a desk in the alcove, two nightstands, an amour for the tv and a settee ? just absolutely lovely, I couldn?t say enough wonderful things about the sleeping accommodations, the building, or the grounds. The kitchen offers a continental breakfast in the am included in the rate. If you cross the street and head down the first side street, there is common access to the ?river? area with a long trail running alongside for jogging or walking your dog.
The main building is just as beautiful; very classic New England hotel. The dining room has a quaint bar and a large fireplace with cushy couches for waiting if you didn?t make a reservation. Some of the tables (such as the one we had dinner at) are located on the porch-style area that was very warm and windows throughout the front of the building overlooking the park as well as the ocean. While we were having dinner it was snowing, so to look through the window at the snow falling while having a decadent meal of steam lobster was simply perfect. The menu is very extensive and everything we tasted was done to perfection. There is also a pub located in the downstairs area which is a must to see; not only is the food fabulous, the décor of teak and mahogany keep the area cozy but not too masculine - at the very least, a drink at the bar is strongly suggested.
Even if I didn?t have a pet, I would definitely book a room at this facility down the street, only because the setting is quieter and the rooms are larger. All-in-all, the pet friendly building it is like staying at a friend?s house who has gone away for the weekend and has wonderful decorating taste.
