"Skiing in Dubna" Dubna Sports & Outdoors Tip by Maria81

Dubna Sports & Outdoors: 6 reviews and 1 photos

My original hometown's favourite sport was skiing, though of the cross-country, not the downhill variety (as we had plenty of forest but no hills to speak of). Indeed, local schools devoted one term of physical education lessons each year to skiing.

To cater to the enthusiasts, skiing trails are usually prepared as soon as the snow falls and are well-maintained throughout the winter. Skiing is usually possible from late November to mid-March. Trails exist side by side for both classical and skating techniques, and range from 1km to 10km in length. Maintained by the local administration and the skiing club, they start from the back of the stadium and are free to use.

If you don't have your own skis, equipment is available for hire from the stadium, but you need to speak Russian (or have somebody who speaks Russian with you) to hire anything as the language standards are not that high.
