Collaroy Things to Do: 1 reviews and 3 photos
Long Reef is a little out of the way as most visitors pass it by driving along Pittwater Road on the northern Beaches.....Located right on the point between Dee Why beach and Collaroy beach ,Long Reef is a very popular place among the local inhabitants..
Not only does it have good surf ,but it has a "unique wave" here that I am told seems to come from nowhere of the rocky point ...This is called The Bombora" The Bombora is reputed to be very dangerous but worth the good ride..so famous is the Bombora a surfing hit was made of it in the early sixties...as at this period in time this was becoming a worldwide famous surfing area along these northern beaches..Two surfing world Champions came from this local suburb of Collaroy..
Long Reef , among locals is also a great place to buy freshly caught fish off the local fisherman on the beach..fresh isn't the word..There also is a boatramp at Long Reef to launch your boat off the trailer ramp.
Address: long reef beach and point
Directions: VERY noticeable the Long Reef point is a large golf course..on your left hand side driving north on Pittwater Road.
