Now we are talking old..........
The year 805, was when a pilgrimage church was first mentioned on the hill at Offingen/ Bussen.
The existing church originally was built in 1516, since then, some renovation's were done between 1960 & 1963.
I was lucky as the Church was open and I could go inside. The stained glass window's were different to most Churches as they were narrow window's and many of them looked quite modern! The Church itself, is set in a beautiful position and has well kept gardens and some old gravestones.
Pilgrim's come to this Church to venerate the Virgin Mary in a 16th Century Pieta. They have been recorded coming here since 1521. Beginning in the 1950s, the Bussen became the destination of a large pilgrimage procession during Pentecost.
From the village of Offingen, follow Zum Bussen to the Church. Parking available by the Church
