When I was talking to one of the cooks I was told that there was once a blind man visiting the hotel up the hill from this little restaurant. As it turned out, he found his way to this place entirely by following the smell of cooking.

According to the huge banner on the side, this little shed on the edge of the water in Bremerton was recently voted the "#1 Best Barbecue in Western Washington" by some poll or other by one of the TV or radio stations. I would not be surprised at all.

Now, I will offer one word of warning: this is a true African-American style barbecue restaurant, and you can not expect that the food here will be very healthy at all. It will be very good, but not good for you.

However, is it such a problem to eat such food just once in your life?

This place is absolutely tiny, and other than the cash register and the order desk, there really isn't much inside. Therefore, be prepared to eat outside in the weather, whatever the weather happens to be at the time. There are several tables set up along the waterfront, and the chairs are usually tipped up to prevent them from filling with rain water when there isn't someone sitting in them.

Favorite Dish: I asked the person cooking what they thought was their best work that day, and he suggested the barbecue pork. Yes, in fact, it was absolutely wonderful, for $9. I also got a small order of cole slaw for $3, which was probably a bit overpriced based on the amount of cole slaw for the price. However, the babecue was definitely very good.

The "Southern Style Sweet Tea" is also quite good.

Address: Not on a street and therefore doesn't have one.
Price Comparison: about average
Directions: From ferry terminal, go down the stairs to lower outdoor deck and walkway level. Located in small metal building slightly northeast of ferry terminal, near the marina.
